Fire On The Mountain
Whether you’re kicking back on the grass or dancing into the wee hours of the morning, there’s something undeniably special about summer music festivals. The combination of fresh air, catchy grooves, and a few thousand like-minded friends is a tried-and-true recipe for good times. Nestled into the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains less than 50 miles from our factory, the annual FloydFest offers a unique fusion of live music and outdoor recreation, making it an ideal event partner for Farm To Feet.
With this year’s lineup featuring legends such as Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris, current chart-toppers like Grace Potter and Brandi Carlisle, and up-and-coming acts like Annabelle’s Curse and Look Homeward (the fan-picked winner of the On The Rise contest)—plus many, many more—the 14th FloydFest had something for rock, folk, Americana, and bluegrass fans of all ages. Between soaking up the music, festival-goers enjoyed extensive activity offerings including nature walks and bike rides on the trails surrounding the festival grounds, as well as yoga classes, instrument workshops, public jam sessions, and exhibitions from martial artists, professional mountain bikers, and more.
As part of our sponsorship, event volunteers received a pair of the Floyd socks we designed as an homage to one of the best festival environments in the country. If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram, you may have even tracked down our good friends (and FloydFest veterans) Luke and Hattie, who were wandering around the grounds with vouchers for free Floyds from the onsite Farm To Feet retail booth.
Pictures from FloydFest are in the slider above with special thanks to Beasley Nester and David Lansing for many great festival shots.
Spreading The Love
Reevestock 2015FloydFest may be our biggest festival partner of the summer, but it’s certainly not the only one. Our commitment to local live music also includes support of Red Wing Roots, the family-friendly Virginia festival hosted by homegrown roots band The Steel Wheels. Often compared to FloydFest in its early years, Red Wing offers nearby biking, hiking, and fishing, and this year’s lineup included Robert Earl Keen, Punch Brothers, Elephant Revival, and dozens more. Farm To Feet also sponsored the main stage at Reevestock in Elkin, NC, less than 15 miles from our factory. Our signature stage hosted headliners The Black Lillies as well as Andrew Combs, Caroline Spence, and our good friends and Reevestock host band Time Sawyer, among others.
Our final festival partnership of the summer was right here in our hometown of Mount Airy. The Carolina Sky Music Fest, held August 29-30, featured a full weekend of music, including the Farm-To-Feet-sponsored Vagabond Saints Society performing a Bruce Springsteen cover set. We figured some all-American music by The Boss himself would be a good match for our 100% American philosophy, which is why the first 200 ticket buyers received a free pair of Farm To Feet socks.
