In 2003 Jennifer Pharr Davis completed her first thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail and she hasn’t stopped moving since.
We are excited to welcome Jennifer and her family to the Farm to Feet family as a global ambassador.
She has hiked over 13,000 miles on six continents including all 50 states, along some of the most famed trails in the world.
In 2008, Jennifer set the Women’s Appalachian Trail Record by hiking the trail in 57 days. Three years later she hiked the AT in 46 days setting the fastest overall record, for which National Geographic named her Adventurer of the Year and Ultrarunning Magazine honored her with Female Performance of the Year.
Jennifer’s accomplishments are nothing short of amazing. These days she shares her passion with others through the Blue Ridge Hiking Company which she founded in 2008 with her husband Brew. They lead groups on single and multiday hikes on sections of the AT and Mountains-to-Sea Trail near her home in Asheville, NC.
Jennifer is also an ambassador of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. 2017 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail which stretches from Clingmans Dome, on the Tennessee border, across the state to the Outer Banks. Jennifer is planning a number of events throughout the year as part of the celebration including a book tour.
Jennifer’s new book, Families On Foot, will be released this spring. Written with Brew, they offer practical trail advice for families. Inspired by their experiences while hiking with their daughter, the book includes tips on everything from handling diaper blowouts, using GPS and smartphones on the trail, to general hiking tips.
“Novice hikers too often over look the importance of socks. A good pair of socks can make all the difference on the trail,” said Jennifer.
Jennifer’s trail experience will be invaluable as we work with her on our next generation of technical hiking socks. We can’t wait to see what Jennifer and our team create.
